New Mother

Memoirs of a Mother, is a blog that I have created in order to provide myself an outlet to document my experiences of becoming a mother. My goal is to share my findings and array of knowledge I come across as a new parent.

Motherhood:

After giving birth,  I was in a  whirlwind of emotions. There were moments that I was scared, nervous, excited, happy, anxious, and full of love on tackling to become a mother for the first time. Not growing up with a one, but being raised by lovely, motherly figures, I put an intensive amount of pressure on myself becoming a “good” mother.

Nothing can ever really prepare you to become a parent until you become one. It continues to be trial and error, where it is a journey with you, your child, and your partner.

I give mad props and respect to ALL women, men, parents, grandparents, and anyone who decides to give up their job and raise their children all on their own. It is one of the most rewarding experiences. Especially when you see that first smile and hear that first laugh.

Interracial Marriage

The term ‘Race’ in my opinion, is both a cultural and social construct. Though our society has progressed in many ways, I still believe we have a long way to go in terms of racial discourse. In regards to interracial dating, there is still a stigma,  countless stereotypes, and presumptions of what it means to date someone with a different race.  As I grow older, I have become more and more aware of how society and others around me dictate these stereotypes.  They come in a variety of forms that are invisible and many times unnoticed. These Microaggressions can be detrimental in an interracial relationship if ignored.

People say some ridiculous  sh*t, when they don’t think before they speak. Even when they do, those offensive offhanded comments  don’t fly with me.  That is why, I am very fortunate and happy, to have  a partner I can communicate with about it.

I am extremely grateful to my friend for life, my rock, my love, and the mastermind of all the techie logistics that is Memoirs of a Mother. If it wasn’t for his calm personality and patience, we surely would not have survived our first year of parenthood.

It’s very important for me to stay grounded and remember where I came from. I’d like to think it will help us in raising our daughter with that awareness as well.

In addition, I enjoy cooking and will add some recipes from time to time!

I appreciate and thank you for taking the time to visit. I will do my best to update and share.

If you’re interested in giving me feedback or just sharing your parental or mommy advice. Please feel free to contact me!

I will love it!!

🙂
